This is all very true. The thing is, everyone has their faults, and no one can be perfect 24/7. That, combined with the "actions speak louder than words" phrase tends to make people feel guilty. You should aspire to be the best you can be, but there will be times when you mess up. I can't tell you how many times I've had to apologize to my parents for getting angry and yelling. Just an example. Doesn't mean I'm a hypocrite, just human. And it doesn't make it right. There's a line between hypocrite and normal--you just have to differentiate.

Seth, you are really doing some deep thinking! I am so impressed. I like what you said here: "think to yourself before you do it what would Jesus do? " I'm not totally sure I agree with what you said here: "I believe that Christ didn’t want us to necessarily tell people about Christ’s love with words" - but I will say that I struggle with that. I am not very good about spreading "The Word" verbally. I definitely agree with what you said about letting people see Christ's love with our actions.I think that is so important. I also like what you said here: "when you are talking to someone, do they see Christ’s love??"

Well, it's good to hear your thoughts on stuff! I think, though, that putting someone to shame doesn't necessarily entail being rude toward them. It just means that if they say something about you that isn't true, you prove them wrong by setting the right example. That way people see what the truth is and the liar is "put to shame" by having other people see what a liar they are. Really, in the end, if someone says something about you, it ends up being their problem--not yours. I think that's part of the reason that Paul wrote 1Tim 4:12.
It's totally true that God doesn't physically fight for us, except in rare cases. We make our own paths. The thing is, we still need His guidance, or we're lost, fighting in circles or fighting toward who-knows-what.

Dude, I'm praying for you.

And for what it's worth, Pulley is right about one thing...be real about what you're feeling and going through. The real danger comes from trying to cover things up and pretending to be something you're not. David was a murder and adulterer and yet he sought God and was called a man after God's own heart.

Keep on pressing on dude. Keep getting up every time you fall.

Definitely something to keep in mind! Great stuff!

You really amaze me, Seth! When I was your age, I believed in God, but never really gave it that much thought. I have never really done Bible study and am not well versed in the Bible. You know a lot more about the Bible and Scripture than I do. What little I know about the Psalms, I think David alternated between praising God and doubting God. That is very human. I know many times I have been very angry with God for things that have happened, mostly to my loved ones, but on the other hand, I have always been afraid to give up, for fear that things would be worse, so I keep believing.

Abbey, you make a good point when you say "You must let go of the illusion of control". I struggle with that, because I always think I can be in control. One of the worst decisions I made in my life was when I wanted to be in control, and I did not consult God. I have regretted it since. I think I might have mentioned this in an earlier post to Seth. I'm glad your life is taking a different path now. I appreciate your friendship with Seth.

Seth - sounds like you need to have a heart to heart talk with God. Let me know if I can help. Let's go out to eat soon!
